How does WineWall work?
1. Select your meal type (red meat, poultry, seafood, pasta, pizza, etc.)
2. Photograph an entire wine shelf at a grocery store or wine shop
3. Our GPT-4 Vision AI reads every wine label in the photo
4. Get instant recommendations ranked specifically for your meal with ratings, tasting notes, and food pairings
What's the difference between Free and Premium?
Free Tier: Watch a short ad before each scan, unlimited scans, full AI analysis
Premium ($24.99/year): 500 wine scans included, zero ads, instant camera access, priority support
Lookup Packs: Premium users can buy 10 ($2.99) or 25 ($4.99) extra scans when needed
Do my extra lookup packs expire?
Yes, extra lookup packs expire when your annual subscription renews. If you have 20 extra scans remaining when your subscription renews for a new year, those 20 scans will be cleared and you'll start fresh with 500 new scans for the year.
Can I scan individual wine bottles?
Yes! While WineWall is optimized for photographing entire wine shelves (which gives you more options and better comparisons), you can also photograph individual bottles or smaller selections. The AI will analyze whatever is visible in your photo.
Does WineWall work at restaurants?
Absolutely! You can photograph restaurant wine menus and get recommendations. Just make sure the text is clear and readable in your photo. WineWall works anywhere you can photograph wine options—grocery stores, wine shops, restaurants, even wine bars.
How accurate is the AI wine analysis?
WineWall uses OpenAI's GPT-4 Vision, trained on extensive wine knowledge including professional ratings, tasting notes, regional characteristics, and food pairing science. While the AI is highly knowledgeable, wine preferences are subjective. Think of it as having a knowledgeable sommelier friend—great guidance, but your personal taste is what matters most.
Do you store my wine photos?
No, absolutely not. Your wine photos are processed in real-time and immediately discarded. The photo is sent to our backend, analyzed by AI, and then deleted from all systems. We cannot see what stores you shop at or retrieve your photos later. Privacy is a core principle of WineWall.
What meal types can I select?
You can choose from: All Wines (no filter), Red Meat, Poultry, Seafood, Pasta, Pizza, Burgers, Salads, Cheese, Dessert, and Spicy Food. Each selection optimizes the AI's recommendations for that specific meal pairing.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel anytime. Go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → WineWall → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep premium access until the end of your billing period, then revert to the free tier.
What if I run out of scans on Premium?
If you use all 500 scans before your subscription renews, you can purchase add-on lookup packs: 10 scans for $2.99 or 25 scans for $4.99. These extras expire when your subscription renews for a new year.
How do I restore my Premium subscription on a new device?
Download WineWall on your new device, then tap the menu or settings and select "Restore Purchases." Your Premium subscription will be restored automatically through Apple's App Store.
Does WineWall work offline?
No, WineWall requires an internet connection to send your wine photos to our AI for analysis. The AI processing happens in the cloud via OpenAI's GPT-4 Vision API.
