This Privacy Policy describes how KnockFirst ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By downloading, installing, or using KnockFirst, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

When you use KnockFirst, you voluntarily provide the following information:

Your Name: The display name you enter when joining a family group
Family Code: A unique code used to connect with your family members
Status Updates: Your availability status (Green, Yellow, or Red)

1.2 Information Automatically Collected

KnockFirst automatically collects minimal technical information required for the app to function:

Device Information: Device type, operating system version for compatibility purposes
Usage Data: Basic analytics about app crashes and performance to improve stability
Firebase Data: Anonymous identifiers used by Firebase to sync your status in real-time

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We are committed to your privacy. We do NOT collect:

Email addresses or phone numbers
Location data (precise or approximate)
Access to your camera, photos, or contacts
Payment information (handled by Apple)
Browsing history or activity in other apps
Advertising identifiers for tracking

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Family Status Sharing: To display your status to members of your family group in real-time
App Functionality: To enable family code joining and synchronization across devices
Service Improvement: To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance

Important: We do NOT use your information for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing the core functionality of the app.

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Firebase (Google Cloud)

KnockFirst uses Firebase, a backend service provided by Google, to enable real-time synchronization of family status updates. Firebase may collect:

Anonymous device identifiers
Basic app usage statistics
Crash reports and performance data

Firebase does NOT use this data for advertising purposes in KnockFirst. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

3.2 Apple In-App Purchases

KnockFirst requires a $1.99/year subscription processed through Apple's App Store. Important details:

Payment Processing: We do NOT collect, store, or process your payment information
Apple Handles Billing: All transactions are securely handled by Apple
Family Sharing: Subscriptions can be shared with up to 6 family members via Apple Family Sharing
Refunds: Refund requests must be made through Apple's App Store

3.3 No Advertising Networks

KnockFirst does NOT display advertisements and does NOT integrate with any advertising networks. We do not collect advertising identifiers or track you across other apps.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Cloud Storage

Your family status information is stored in Firebase's secure cloud infrastructure. This allows real-time synchronization across all family members' devices.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

End-to-end encryption for data in transit (TLS/SSL)
Encrypted data storage at rest
Access controls limiting data visibility to your family group only
Regular security audits and updates

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4.3 Data Retention

Your family status data is retained for as long as:

You remain a member of a family group, OR
Your family group remains active

When you leave a family group or delete the app, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days.

5. Children's Privacy

KnockFirst is a family-friendly app appropriate for all ages, including children. We are committed to protecting children's privacy:

We do NOT knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what's necessary for the app to function (name and status)
We do NOT require email addresses, phone numbers, or any sensitive personal information
We do NOT display advertisements to users of any age
We do NOT track children's behavior or activity
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

View Your Data: See your name, status, and family code within the app
Change Your Status: Update your availability at any time
Leave Family: Exit your family group at any time from app settings
Delete Your Data: Leave the family and uninstall the app to remove all your data

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

Right to know what personal information we collect
Right to delete your personal information
Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information (we do NOT sell your data)

Right to Rectification: Correct inaccurate data (update your name in app settings)

Within Your Family Group: Your name and status are visible to other members of your family group
Service Providers: Firebase (Google Cloud) processes data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements

We do NOT share data with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties.
