Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Download Foothold from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap "Sign Up." Enter your email, create a password, and add your name. That's it!

What's included in the free tier?

The free tier includes:

  • 3 daily missions from our curated library
  • Daily mood check-ins
  • Streak tracking to build momentum
  • Basic journal for tracking thoughts

This is genuinely usefulβ€”not just a trial. You can use Foothold for free forever.

How do daily missions work?

Every day, you get 3 personalized tasks designed to help you make progress. These include:

  • Self-care: Taking care of your mental and physical health
  • Networking: Building connections and reaching out
  • Progress: Practical job search or career development tasks

Complete your missions to build a streak and track your momentum.

What are check-ins?

Once per day, we ask how you're feeling (1-5 scale). Your mood helps us adjust your missions. If you're having a tough week, we'll give you easier, more supportive tasks. If you're feeling strong, we'll suggest growth-oriented challenges.

How do I upgrade to Plus?

In the app, go to Profile β†’ Upgrade to Plus. Choose monthly ($2.99) or annual ($29). Payment is handled securely through the App Store or Google Play.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed through your app store account:

iOS: Settings β†’ [Your Name] β†’ Subscriptions β†’ Foothold β†’ Cancel
Android: Play Store β†’ Menu β†’ Subscriptions β†’ Foothold β†’ Cancel

You'll keep access until your current billing period ends.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google:

  • Monthly plans: No refunds for partial months
  • Annual plans: Pro-rated refunds within 30 days of purchase

Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support to request a refund.

I have a promo code from my employer. How do I use it?

In the app, go to Profile β†’ Redeem Promo Code. Enter your code (format: COMPANY-XXXXX) and tap Redeem. You'll get 1 year of Foothold Plus!

How does Foothold help with layoffs?

Traditional outplacement costs $3,000-10,000 per person for one-time coaching. Foothold provides daily support for a full year at $100-300 per person.

You purchase bulk promo codes, distribute them to laid-off employees, and they get 1 year of Foothold Plus to support their transition.

Can we use Foothold for employee development (not just layoffs)?

Absolutely! Many companies provide Foothold to current employees for:

How do bulk promo codes work?

Here's the process:

  1. You tell us how many employees need codes
  2. We generate unique codes (format: YOURCOMPANY-XXXXX)
  3. We send you a CSV with all codes
  4. You distribute codes via email or Slack
  5. Employees redeem codes in the app
  6. You get access to a company dashboard showing redemption rates

No HR system integration needed. Simple and fast.

What data do we receive as an employer?

You receive anonymous aggregate analytics only:

  • Number of codes redeemed
  • Average engagement rate (missions completed)
  • Total check-ins logged

We do NOT share: Individual employee data, journal entries, mood scores, or personal information. Employee privacy is protected.

How much does Enterprise cost?

Enterprise pricing is customized based on your needs:

  • Flexible pricing based on number of users
  • Volume discounts available for 1000+ users
  • Payment options: Annual invoice or auto-renew with credit card
  • Much less expensive than traditional outplacement ($3,000-10,000/person)

Can we pilot Foothold before committing?

Yes! We offer pilot programs tailored to your company's size. This allows you to test Foothold with a subset of your team before rolling it out company-wide.

Technical & Troubleshooting

The app isn't loading. What should I do?

Try these steps:

  1. Check your internet connection
  2. Close and restart the app
  3. Update to the latest version in the App Store / Play Store
  4. Restart your device
  5. If still broken, email us at support@nittram.net

How do I reset my password?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?" Enter your email and we'll send you a password reset link.

Can I use Foothold on multiple devices?

Yes! Log in with the same email on any device (iPhone, iPad, Android phone/tablet). Your data syncs automatically via the cloud.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile β†’ Account Settings β†’ Delete Account. Confirm deletion. All your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

Warning: This cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first through your app store.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Profile β†’ Export Data. We'll email you a ZIP file with all your journal entries, wins, and mission history in JSON format.

Privacy & Security

Is my data private?

Yes. Your journal entries, wins, and check-ins are private. We do NOT:

  • Sell your data
  • Share with advertisers
  • Use for marketing
  • Train AI models on your personal content

Where is my data stored?

Your data is stored on Google Firebase (a secure, encrypted cloud platform). All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.

Do you use my data to train AI?

No. When we send text to OpenAI for AI features (reframes, mission generation), it's anonymized and NOT used to train their models. We have a zero-retention agreement with OpenAI.
